March 2019

Welcome spring!!! I know, I know, the spring equinox is not scheduled for another 20 days, but does not the entrance of March make you want spring the more. Days are becoming a little longer. Dandelions, tulips, daffodils and even those dreaded Bradford pear trees have given us a glimpse of spring, and the achy bones yearn for its appearance. As much as we want the winter solstice to end it’s annual tenure, we all know in the southeast that the attributes of winter could last well into April.

So, with that, in our first newsletter, we will make our final salute to winter.

Our first class of the year is a Tea Making Class. Join us for an afternoon of tea. Of all the classes and teaching sessions I have ever done, I am the most excited about this one. Come journey with us in the art of tea making. There's still time to sign up at the link below: https://squareup.com/store/the-coffeelady31/item/herbal-tea-making-class

Good bye, Winter Solace

We introduced this product line shortly after the 2017 holiday season, and it has by far exceeded all expectations. Our blend of natural ingredients such as shea butter, coconut oil enhanced with infused and essential oils of fir, balsam fir, and juniper berry.

Indulge in the calming and balancing properties of juniper berry and the soothing and uplifting fragrance of balsam fir. Detox with our bath bombs, moisturize with our massage candles and body butter, exfoliate with our salt scrub. A perfect spa creation!

We have made our last batch for this winter season and the fragrance will go into hibernation at the end of March. I will admit, I keep a stash to use all year long. So, stock up at https://squareup.com/store/the-coffeelady31/ and receive a free Winter Solace Lip Balm with each purchase. Sale ends 3/21/19, or while supplies last.

Featured Herb of the Month...Rosa spp.

"A rose is a rose is a rose..."

"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet..."

Shakespeare and Gertrude Stein come to mind as I put pen to paper regarding this beauty. The name itself, Rosa spp. smells sweet. Of all the flowers, the rose is by far the most reputable. February just left us, and since it is the month of Valentine's Day, it could very well be deemed the month of roses.

I think the unofficial celebration of the rose in February is also a preface to spring. A sign that says, better days are coming. Does not the rose remind us that better days are coming? Often enjoyed for its beauty, scent and symbolism of love, the rose has quite the medicinal properties.

Rosa radrazz

The rose has astringent properties and can be useful in cooling inflamed skin and aid in healing wounds. As a cooling herb, it clears the body of heart. As a nervine it can calm the nerves and ease irritability. It is useful with bladder infections, cold, flu, pain and inflammation.

As facial toner helps to cleanse, tone and hydrate, while soothing inflamed tissues.

Beyond the physical, the rose can help with grief and depression. It can help calm the nerves, helps with irritability and soothes the broken heart. It's sweet and cooling and can benefit the physical and emotional part of the heart. It's no wonder it is celebrated during February.

At The CoffeeLady31, LLC we incorporate Rosa spp. in our rose body butter, our rose bath bombs, and our foaming face wash. It is part of Farmer CeCe's daily tea regiment that will be available to the public soon.
